International Tiger Day - July 29

பன்னாட்டுப் புலி நாள் அல்லது உலகப் புலி நாள் என்பது புலிகளின் வளத்தை காப்பது குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்த ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஜூலை 29 ஆம் நாள் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இந்நாள் 2010இல் சென் பீட்டர்ஸ்பேர்க்கில் நடந்த கூட்டத்தில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. இந்நாளின் நோக்கம் புலிகளின் இயற்கை வாழ்விடங்களைக் காப்பாற்றுவதற்கான உலகளாவிய அமைப்பை ஏற்படுத்தி, புலி வளம்பேணும் சிக்கல்கள் குறித்து  பொதுமக்களிடம் விழிப்புணர்வை மேம்படுத்தி அவர்களது ஆதரவைப் பெறுவதாகும்.


International Tiger Day was established in 2010 at Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia to raise awareness about the decline of wild tiger numbers, leaving them in the brink of extinction and to encourage the work of Tiger conservation. In the Summit, a declaration was made that Governments of tiger populated countries had vowed to double the tiger population by 2020.29th July is referred to as the Global Tiger Day also every year. The day is observed to mark the declining population of tigers across the globe. The decline happened in the 20th century and the number is luckily on rise again due to the continued efforts of the people. India prepares the tiger estimation report every four years and last report was released in 2018. 

There is a famous quote "Where tigers thrive, it is a sign that the ecosystem is healthy"

The theme for the 2021 International Tiger Day is “Their survival is in our hands”. என்பதாகும்.

Why do we celebrate International Tiger Day?

International Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29 every year to generate awareness regarding the dwindling population of the species. The population of the national animal of India has been affected by several factors like illegal wildlife trade, human wildlife conflict, habitat loss, and fragmentation


Who started Project Tiger?

Project Tiger was first initiated in the year April 1, 1973, and is ongoing. The much-needed project was launched in Jim Corbett National Park, Uttrakhand under the leadership of Indira Gandhi. There are around fifty-one parks and sanctuaries that are involved in this project.07-Nov-2020
